This Month's Issue

Saskatchewan Declining Productivity
The picture painted by the census income statistics is consistent and positive. Measured at the
individual, family, or household levels, incomes in Saskatchewan are growing more quickly than
inflation and are the second or third highest among the provinces.
  • In the ten years from 2005 to 2015, and after adjusting for inflation, average individual, family, and household incomes before taxes have increased by an average of 2.5% per year.
  • The proportion of high-income households, taken to be those with gross income of $100,000 or more, is increasing and now represents more than a third of households.
  • The incidence of low incomes has fallen from 10% to 6% between 2005 and 2015 with a particularly dramatic decline among children.
